Today, the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine meets for the first time, under the supervision of Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev.
Information indicates that there are many serious issues on the agenda of the Holy Synod, but it is not known which one will be discussed first.
Organizational issues will also be discussed as well as issues concerning church staff salaries, since the Church in Ukraine is separated from the State.
In a recent interview with Radio Liberty, Metropolitan Epiphanius referred to the clergy, stressing that “our priests are not civil servants in contrast with the priests of the Church of Greece.”
