Patriarch Irinej of Serbia sent a formal invitation to President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to attend the evening sitting of the Holy Synod.
According to information, the Patriarch, the Members of the Synod, and the President of Serbia will talk about the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
“It is a great honor and opportunity for me today to attend the Holy Synod of the Church of Serbia, and we will talk about Kosovo and Metohija together as well as the State-Church relations. We will also give an answer to all these lies disseminated in the media in recent days,” said the President of Serbia on Monday morning.
The President of Serbia stressed that “the completion of the Cathedral of Saint Savas is of national importance not only for the Church but for the whole country.”
Information from Romfea.gr indicates that Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik will attend the meeting with the Holy Synod at the invitation of Patriarch Irinej.
“If we abandon Kosovo, that will bring down the curse of St. Lazar”
In his statements, Patriarch Irinej said: “Serbia should not abandon the Kosovo issue. That is why Serbian people must be united and not divided, a situation that will give courage to our enemies.”
Moreover, the primate of the Church of Serbia said that “Kosovo is a serious wound for Serbia”.
“The sacred Serbian land can not be divided, as it will bring down the curse of Saint Prince Lazar and the martyrs from Kosovo. The pain of all who have died in this holy land will fall upon us and it will be a curse for us,” added the Patriarch of Serbia.
Patriarch Irinej underlined that he did not place his faith on people, but he relied on the power and help of God and the Saints of Kosovo.
