Under the presidency of Archbishop Demetrios of America, the regular session of the Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America took place on the 9th and 10th of April.
The Synod discussed the course of the Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, taking decisions and measures to revive these educational institutions.
In addition, members of the Holy Eparchial Synod exchanged views on youth issues concerning the implementation of measures to protect youth, as well as the organization of new campsite programs.
The Synod also approved the ordination of a new clergyman and dealt with salary and retirement issues relating to the clergy.
It even referred to the course of the ecumenical and inter-Orthodox activities of the Holy Archdiocese of America.
It should be noted that the texts of the English translation of the Holy Services, Matins and Vesper were submitted at the Synod for future processing. Also, the Holy Eparchial Synod has been involved in the electronic publishing of its liturgical texts.
The Members of the Holy Eparchial Synod were also informed of the progressive status of the Archdiocese.
Finally, there was a report on the progress of the actions concerning the reconstruction of the Church of St. Nicholas at Ground Zero.
