The Great Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Smyrna was celebrated this year too in the Church of St. Photini.
Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna officiated at the Great Vespers on August 14 and serviced in the Liturgy on the 15th.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Bartholomew said that on this great day it might be better to remain silent and let ourselves feel the presence of the Theotokos, as our Lady is the one who bore the source of salvation and peace of the world.
