On Wednesday, 19 April 2023, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the earthquake-stricken region of Turkey, together with the other religious leaders of the country and representatives of these Communities, as well as diplomats accredited to Turkey.
The religious leaders visited various religious monuments and then sat down to an iftar meal, where the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was also present.
The Ecumenical Patriarch appropriately spoke at the iftar, while Patriarch John X of Antioch, was also present as he is currently visiting the area also.
This visit was organized by the Municipality of Peran (Beyoğlu), with which the Association for the Support of Greek Community Institutions collaborated.
The Patriarch was accompanied by Archon Grand Hartofylax of the Great Church of Christ, Lakis Vigas.
