The political administrator of Mount Athos Konstantinos Dimtsas went today to Simonopetra, where he attended the Passion Liturgy, presided by the Primate of the Monastery Archimandrite Elder Elissaios.
On the occasion, Mr. Dimtsas expressed his heartfelt thanks to Abbot Elissaios and to the Primates and monks of Mount Athos for the loyal cooperation between the Administration and the Monastic Governing Authorities.
He also stressed the significance of Mount Athos for the faith and the piousness of Greek people and the Orthodox congregation around the world as a source of spiritual rebirth and revival in times of intellectual poverty and confusion.
“People see enemies and threats everywhere. Jesus, with His Crucifixion, taught us that, instead of looking for enemies, we should seek the meaning of love, and the Other, who is not a threat to our existence but a ‘prophetic presence’, which shall bring joy to our lives”, concluded Mr. Dimtsas.
