The ceremony for the change of the Holy Supervisory Committee of Mount Athos was held today.
The outgoing Supervisory Committee of the Monastery of Great Lavra was succeeded by the Supervisory Committee of Vatopedi with a new Head, Fr. Georgios Vatopaidinos.
As reported by halkidikinews.gr, the new Head, Elder Georgios Vatopaidinos along with Geron Iosif of the Holy Monastery of Karakallos, Geron Filotheos of Koutloumousiou Monastery, and Geron Theofilos of the Holy Monastery of Stavronikita constitute the Holy Supervisory Committee according to the Constitutional Charter of Mount Athos.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Vlasis, as Representative of the Greek Government, Kyriakos Velopoulos, Leader of the Greek Solution political party, the Political Commander of Mount Athos Athanasios Martinos, the Deputy Governor of Mount Athos, Aristos Kasmiroglou, and as well as representatives of the Holy Monasteries.
