On the initiative of the Protosyncellus and the Director General of the Archdiocese, Bishop Symeon of Thespies, a meeting took place in the Seminar Hall of the Pastoral Training Institute of the Archdiocese of Athens. The meeting was held between a delegation of the Greek Ombudsman, led by the Greek Deputy Ombudswoman for children’s rights, Theoni Koufonikolakou, and members of the Archdiocese of Athens and organizations, institutions and services for child and youth under its supervision.
The Greek Ombudsman, among other things, is concerned with the protection and promotion of children’s rights, by intervening for this purpose in both state-citizen relations and relations between individuals, based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Within this framework, there was dialogue, exchange of experiences and know-how between the participants and it was decided to strengthen the cooperation of the Archdiocese and the Independent Authority on issues of common interest and common competence.
On behalf of the Archdiocese of Athens, senior officials from the General Charitable Organization, the Institute for Youth and Family, the “Apostoli” NGO, and other institutions within the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, participated.
