Antonios Pikis, President of the Ecclesiastical Committee of the Church of the Ascension, expressed his concern over the five churches that are located in the occupied village of Acheritou.
It is the Church of the Ascension of Christ the Savior, the Chapel of Agia Marina, the Chapel of Agios Dimitrios, the Chapel of Agia Paraskevi and the historic church of Panagia Chrysopolitissa-Trapezitissa”.
Antonios Pikis added that “today the Church of the Ascension is in somewhat good condition whereas the Chapel of Agia Marina and the historic Church of Panagia Chrysopolitissa – Trapezitissa must be restored as soon as possible, because they are in danger of collapsing.
The Ecclesiastical Committee, in cooperation with the organized community groups, the Metropolis of Constantia and Ammochostos, and the Technical Committee, put much effort into safeguarding and preserving our religious and cultural heritage.”
Antonis Pikis “thanked the Technical Committee for including the Church of Saint Marina and that of Panagia Trapezitissa in the list of buildings to be restored and maintained in the near future”, according to CNA.
