The Resurrection Orthros and the Divine Liturgy were performed today, Sunday after the Nativity of Christ, December 31, 2023, by the Abbot, Bishop Kassianos of Arabissos. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop performed a memorial service for the repose of Metropolitan Maximos of Sardis since his passing 37 years ago, on December 30, 1986.
Metropolitan Maximos was a graduate of the Theological School in 1937 and submitted a dissertation entitled “The chronological problem of the Lord.” Then he served for forty years (1946-1986) as a member of the Ephorate of the School and for about a decade as its president.
