The brotherhood of the Saint Catherine’s Monastery extended a warm welcome to the Governor of South Sinai, General Khaled Fouda.
The meeting took place in the context of the preparation for a major cultural event to be held this year for the fifth time in the city of Saint Catherine. Under the auspices of President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the aim of the Annual International Meeting on Peace through Religions is to spread the message of peace proclaimed by the two major religions as well as the people of Egypt and Greece.
The theme of the 5th Symposium is “Let’s Pray Together”. This joint effort for peace through the support of religions and Egypt was the main topic, which the monks of the monastery and the governor of South Sinai discussed. General Khaled Fouda is one of the most ardent supporter over the years both of the Greek Orthodox monastery and of The importance of tightening relations between Greece and Egypt.
The Symposium will take place on October 10-12 and will be attended by many officials, ministers and ambassadors from many countries.
Hundreds of visitors are expected to visit Saint Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai, who will be welcomed by Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho.
The topic of the visit also attracted the attention of the Egyptian press, which included statements made by the Consultant of the Holy Monastery, Antonis Kazamias, who spoke about the cooperation of the two countries on this upcoming major event.
During his visit to the Sinai Monastery, Governor Khaled Fouda was accompanied by officials.
