The hierarchs of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church gathered on February 23 at the St. Tsar Boris-Mihail chapel to offer prayers for the health and well-being of Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria. Led by Metropolitan Gregory of Veliko Tarnovo, the prayer service was attended by numerous Metropolitans.
The occasion marked the eleventh anniversary of Patriarch Neophyte’s enthronement, celebrated on February 24. This date holds significant historical importance as it marks the day in 2013 when Metropolitan Neophyte was elected as the third Bulgarian Patriarch during the Patriarchal Election Church Council in Sofia. His enthronement took place later that same day at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevski.
The gathering of hierarchs in prayer not only commemorated this milestone in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church’s recent history but also underscored the unity and support within the Church for Patriarch Neophyte.
