One of the last scenes of the international film co-production “Man of God” by Jelena Popovic was shot yesterday at the Monastery of Saint Nektarios in Aegina.
As reported by the website saronicmagazine.gr, a huge crew had been installed from the monastery’s gate to the inner entrance, with trucks and cars, while the Abbess of the monastery, Timothei, watched the shooting from the monitor as the actors Aris Servetalis and Alexander Petrov were shooting one of the last scenes in the saint’s room.
Serbian-born director Jelena Popovic spoke to the local media of Aegina about the long-awaited film being produced on the 100th anniversary since the death of Saint Nektarios. The director said that she decided to make this movie after reading a book on the life of Saint Nektarios.
She explained that Aris Servetalis was the most appropriate person to enact Saint Nektarios. She was particularly moved by the fact that he is a very faithful and that he looks like the saint.
The Russian actor Alexander Petrov, who enacts St. Nektarios’ cousin, talked about his role in the film.
