On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St. George of the Community of Makrochori.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Sanctification Service was performed at the beginning of the new catechetical year in the Holy Metropolis of Derkoi.
As it is known, for two years now there has been a catechetical section for children between the ages of 4 and 15 years old and from this year onwards a youth section from 15 to 35 years old will be started.
In his speech, Metropolitan Apostolos stressed the importance of the newly established catechetical work for the dissemination of religious and social culture. Religion, language, manners, and customs have been spread from time to time and are being spread by the contribution of the Church. In the end, after thanking the Ephorate Committee of the Community of Makrokhori, he distributed a sum of money to all the children to support them in the new school and catechetical work.
