Archbishop Makarios of Australia received the Romanian Ambassador to Australia, Radu Gabriel Safta, on Friday, December 22.
Safta visited the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney to wish the Archbishop all the best on the upcoming Despotic Feast of Christmas. He was welcomed by Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis and Protosyncellus Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christoforos Krikelis, who first accompanied him to the Cathedral of the Annunciation, where he worshiped the Lord, lit a candle and was informed about its history.
Then, the Ambassador of Romania met with Archbishop Makarios and had a constructive discussion on the presence and works of the Orthodox Archdiocese in Australia.
Special mention was made of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia (1924-2024), the planned celebrations for this anniversary and the visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in October of the following year.
At the end of the meeting, Archbishop Makarios thanked the Ambassador for the visit, wished him all the best for Christmas and the New Year, and both reaffirmed their willingness for close and good cooperation.
