On the afternoon of Sunday, May 26, 2019, the Great Vespers of our father, St. John the Russian, the New Confessor, was celebrated in Neo Prokopio, Euboea, where the Metropolis of Chalkida, Istiaia and the Northern Sporades treasures his Holy Relic.
Metropolitan Ioannis of Lagadas, Liti and Redini officiated at the Vespers, while the Metropolitans Seraphim of Carystea and Skyros, Seraphim of Piraeus, Dionysios of Corinth, Kirill of Kifissia, also attended, invited by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida, Istiaia and the Northern Sporades.
The divine discourse was given to the faithful by the Metropolitan of Langadas Leth and Redinis, Ioannis, who referred to the life and incorruption of Hosios, in which Jesus Christ declares as a sign of spiritual reward the message of the Resurrection through his life St. John’s.
Numerous believers, especially young people, have walked more than 50 kilometers from Chalkida or Northern Euboea to Neo Prokopio, fulfilling their “prilgrimage”for this year.
