Nikos Koukis’ photos at this year’s first Mount Athos Center’s exhibition, entitled “Mount Athos – Life of the Desert,” are snapshots of the worship and daily life of the monks, the preparation of the Mount Athos feast, the pilgrims’ journey to their destination and the “Life of the Desert.”
“Expressive faces and sounds of angelic chants accompany us in this unique hive of peace and spiritual beauty,” one of the curators of the exhibition, Phaedon Hadjiantoniou, remarks on Nikos Koukis’ work.
Nikos Koukis was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. He studied flute at the State Conservatory of the city. He works as a musician at the State Orchestra and teaches at the Conservatory of Ano Poli. He has been involved in art photography since 1978 and has presented his works in solo exhibitions, photo albums, etc.
The exhibition is inaugurated on February 13 and will be open until April 4, 2020 at the exhibition venue of Mount Athos Center in Thessaloniki.
