The Serbian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ivica Dačić, visited the Mount Athos Center on the occasion of his presence in Thessaloniki, where he participated in the High-Level Conference on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans, ‘From Thessaloniki to Zagreb,’ held in the city yesterday.
The Mayor of Thessaloniki and Chair of the Board, Konstantinos Zervas, welcomed Ivica Dačić. During the meeting, they underlined the need to further strengthen the historical and common cultural ties between Thessaloniki and Serbia.
On his part, the Serbian foreign minister invited the mayor to visit Belgrade while the mayor of Thessaloniki offered him a 12th-century gold-plated copy depicting Saint Dimitrios. During his stay in Mount Athos Center, the Serbian minister was shown around the current photography exhibition by Nikos Koukis, entitled “Mount Athos – Life in the Desert,” and was briefed on the action, publications and products of the Mount Athos, which are available at the Center’s bookstore. The minister was accompanied by Ambassador of Serbia to Greece Dušan S. Spasojević and Serbian Consul to Thessaloniki Dragana Glišić.
