“We, the Greeks, have a sacred duty to defend, on terms and conditions of unity, our national issues and our national rights, as well as the progress of the country, through the shielding of the social state and social justice,” President of the Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos said on Friday from Nafplio, where he is attending the celebrations for St Anastasios, the city’s patron saint.
Pavlopoulos referred to the importance of Nafplio for Greece, its people and the whole nation and stressed that in this extremely critical period of time, “we must pay special attention to what arises from the legacy of Ioannis Kapodistrrias and his heinous murder that took place here, in Nafplio.”
“Everything that is big and important, we have achieved united, while disputes and division have cost us dearly,” Pavlopoulos underlined.
