The feast of Saints Constantine and Helen was celebrated in Cairo in the homonymous church of the Greek Community of Cairo behind closed doors without the participation of faithful where Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria presided over the festal Vespers.
It was the first time that the temple celebrated after its restoration and the first time that it did not open its impressive wooden doors for the faithful due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Patriarch Theodore presided over the Vespers service, accompanied by Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis, the Chief of the Church of St. George in Old Cairo, Archimandrite Damaskinos, and priests of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
During the Artoklasia service, Patriarch Theodore prayed for the Greek Community of Cairo and Aikaterini Sofianou-Belefanti.
Immediately after the Vespers, the Patriarch of Alexandria prayed at the Chapel of St. Nestor, which is named after the owner of the temple, Nestor Tsanaklis.
