Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Sarajevo, on October 17, 2021, on the feast day of Saints Stephen and Jelena – Jelisaveta Šiljanović.
The Patriarch was concelebrated by the Metropolitans Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia and Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Bishops Justin of Zica, Andrej of Austria-Switzerland, Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac, Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Metodije of Budimlje-Niksic with the clergy from many dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
“Faith is not just a mere belief, faith is trust in God and surrendering oneself to His judgment. When we live the Gospel of Christ, then we follow the path of security and there is nothing that can confuse us. There is no dilemma whether the Church is being modernized, the Church is always modern, it is often the initiator of development, but what makes us unique is faith in God. Without Christ and without His value system, we are closer to disintegration every day, and with Christ, we become new every day, we become younger in Christ and the Lord. Sometimes, as it is said in the Gospel story, with firm faith we can change the world in ourselves and the world around us,” Patriarch Porfirije said.
