On March 12, 2021, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received Archbishop Luciano Suriani, Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade.
The Patriarch of Serbia welcomed the Apostolic Nuncio and thanked him for attending his enthronement ceremony. Archbishop Suriani thanked Patriarch Porfirije and gave Him a congratulatory message and a gift from Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia asked the Apostolic Nuncio to convey his gratitude to the Pope for his wishes and especially for his readiness to open, support, and nurture a dialogue with the Orthodox Church as a whole, as well as with the local Serbian Orthodox Church.
In a spirit of such dialogue, the interlocutors agreed that equal challenges and temptations that threaten not only the values that underlie Europe and the world, but also human dignity, face all Christians, and as such require consideration, reflection, and effort by all.
Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature Don Aleksandar Ninkovic, and the Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch Deacon Aleksandar Prascevic were also present.
