Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, several hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, clergy, monastics and numerous believers bid farewell to the prominent clergyman of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Archimandrite Jovan Radosavljevic, with a magnificent prayer ceremony in the Lelic Monastery.
The Holy Liturgy for the dead in the monastery church was led by Bishop Pahomije of Vranje, whose diocese was the home of Father Jovan during the last days of his earthly service.
Bishops David of Krusevac and Arsenije of Nis and several priests also concelebrated. The memorial service after the Liturgy was officiated by Bishop Irinej of Backa, with the concelebration of his Vicar, Bishop Isihije of Mohacs, and concelebrating bishops at the Liturgy.
In the summer altar in the courtyard of the monastery, the funeral service was served by Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia with hierarchs and the clergy. Prayers for the soul of the great advocate for the faith of Christ were also offered by his namesakes, Bishops Jovan of Sumadija and retired Jovan Puric.
In the sermon at the Holy Liturgy, Bishop David of Krusevac addressed beautiful words about late Archimandrite John.
Archimandrite Jovan Radosavljevic was buried in the monastic cemetery of the Lelic monastery, near the first abbot of that shrine, Archimandrite Avakum, on whose day he died.
After the prayer farewell in Lelić, Patriarch Porfirije visited the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Valjevo and served the memorial service for Bishop Milutin of Valjev.
