At a ceremony held today in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije awarded the winners of the “Saint Sava Bell” literary contest. The contest, organized by the Orthodox children’s magazine Svetosavsko Zvonce and the Office of the Serbian Orthodox Church for cooperation with young people in Serbia, neighboring regions, and the diaspora, aims to inspire the youth to express their creativity and faith.
During his speech, Patriarch Porfirije congratulated the participants for their heartfelt contributions, saying, “I congratulate you on what you have brought forth from your souls and put on paper, encouraged by the most beautiful and greatest name from our family, the name of Saint Sava. Saint Sava is the greatest son and most beautiful name from our nation, not because he was more capable or gifted than others, but because he directed his gifts and abilities in the best possible way to align with God’s will.”
The Patriarch’s remarks highlighted the importance of Saint Sava’s example and encouraged the youth to follow in his footsteps, using their talents in service to God and the community.
