Patriarch Daniel of Romania sent an encouragment message on Thursday to Romania’s students who take national exams.
In his message he said that “the Church has always supported and promoted schooling and the intellectual, spiritual and moral formation of man.”
“The exams we take in life are the best opportunities for self-evaluation and intellectual development in a society which is increasingly animated by competition,” the Patriarch added.
Finally, he urged parents and teachers, as well as the priests in your parishes, to support the students in concrete ways.

Beloved students, dear young people,
Throughout its history, which is also a cultural history, the Church has always supported and promoted schooling and the intellectual, spiritual and moral formation of man.
The exams we take in life are the best opportunities for self-evaluation and intellectual development in a society which is increasingly animated by competition. They are also necessary steps towards understanding and acquiring values that enhance the necessary culture of dialogue and maintain normal communion between people.
At the beginning of this exam period, full of natural excitement and intense intellectual activity, we urge parents and teachers, as well as the priests in your parishes, to support you in concrete ways, each in his or her area of competence and communication with you, by combining good advice and encouragement with prayer and personal help.
We pray to Jesus Christ, the Teacher and the Light of the world, to give you peace of mind, much courage, success and joy!
With paternal love and blessing,
† Daniel
Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
