Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria presided over the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Saint Dionysius the Areopagite at the katholikon of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St. George of Old Cairo on Sunday, October 3.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by the Consul General of Greece in Cairo, Maria Zisi, the President of the Cyprus Brotherhood in Cairo, Alexandros Kazamias, as well as the members of the new Board of Directors of the Cyprus Brotherhood, Arlet Monsef, the President of HOC, Claude Nakas, the President of the Arab-speaking Orthodox, Salem Cassis, and a large number of believers. Present was also a group of clergy and faithful from Romania.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarch addressed the flock, saying, “Today, Sunday, Saint George opened his arms to all, waited for us and blessed us.” He spoke with warm words about the life and work of Saint Dionysios that, as he emphasized, guide our lives even today.
He reminded the congregation that the greatest joy, according to the tradition of our church, was the fact that Saint Dionysios together with Hierotheos the Bishop of Athens and Saint Timothy the Apostle were in Gethsemane to accompany the body of the Most Holy Mother of us all.
A treat followed in the hall of the Throne of the Holy Monastery with the Patriarch exchanging wishes and words of affection and love with those present, as reported by ekkairo.org.
