In Korca, just two kilometers outside of the town, in the village Mborje (Emporia), there is the historic Church of the Ascension (Kisha e Ristozit), one of the most remarkable monuments in the area, which was declared a monument of cultural heritage in 1974.
There, outdoors, Metropolitan Joan of Korca celebrated the Divine Liturgy on Ascension Day.
This temple dates from 1389, when this place belonged to the principality of the Muzaka family, it was originally decorated in the 14th century and is designed according to the architecture of the cruciform church with a dome.
