A simple celebration of OHI Day was held this year in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, due to the increased COVID-19 restrictive measures.
Metropolitan Daniel of Axum presided over the festal Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the official Doxology at the Cathedral of Saint Frumentius, in the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Ethiopia, Anna Farrou, the President of the Greek Community of Addis Ababa, Dimitrios Sykas, teachers, students and many Orthodox faithful.
In his speech, Metropolitan Daniel conveyed the paternal love and the wishes of the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, while referring to today’s anniversary, focusing on the many and important historical messages that we all need to receive in order to look forward to hope the future of world Greek community.
After the official Doxology, a memorial service was held in the courtyard of the church in front of the temporary Monument to the Fallen, while immediately Ambassador Anna Farrou read the message of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Kostas Vlasis.
After the services, a festive reception was held at the Greek Embassy for all those present.
