On Sunday, January 14, following the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan John of Zambia presided over the blessing of the Vasilopita at the spiritual center of the Diocese of Mozambique.
Prior to the ceremony, the appointment of the new Ecclesiastical Committee of Maputo took place, with Niki Tsichlaki assuming the role of the new president. President Tsichlaki then cut and distributed the pieces of the Vasilopita among the attendees.
During the event, Metropolitan John conveyed the warm wishes of the Alexandrian Primate Theodore II to the newly appointed president and all those present. He expressed his hope for the new year to be characterized by peace, blessings, fruitfulness, and optimism.
The occasion was followed by a reception featuring an array of treats and sweets, fostering a sense of communal joy and celebration.
