Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna officiated on Sunday, February 24 (Sunday of the Prodigal Son) at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels.
Metropolitan Bartholomew visited the Brussels to talk about the role of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Orthodox Church and Europe today, at the seat of the European Parliament. The Metropolitan gave this speech in the framework of the conference cycle “Orthodoxos Logos” of the Archdiocese of Belgium.
In his sermon, the hierarch of the Ecumenical Throne referred to the pericope of the day. He also thanked the Metropolitan for his hospitality.
For his part, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg expressed the joy of hosting a hierarch of the Mother Church of Constantinople.
