With the ecclesiastical splendor and the participation of a crowd of believers, the memory of the glorious Martyr Phanourios the Newly Appeared was celebrated in the homonymous Church of Anthoupolis.
On Monday, August 26, 2019, on the eve of the Feast, the Great Vesper was held, officiated by Metropolitan Klimis of Peristeri.
At the end of the Vesper, and after the Blessing of the loaves (Artoklasia), Metropolitan Klimis blessed the fanouropites that the faithful offered and referred to the life of St. Phanourios.
As the Metropolitan said: “Confession, Divine Communion, rightly the point of the Cross on our breasts, our prosphoron (sacramental bread) in the church, our fasting. If we live this way and keep our traditions, then we are conscious Christians and not ephemeral ones”.
“On the occasion of the blessing of fanouropita, I address paternal wishes, blessings to all of you; so that the Bishop, Priests and people of God will follow a way of life full of love, peace, with the Church and for the Church, because there is no salvation outside the Church”, concluded the Metropolitan of Peristeri.
