On Sunday afternoon, April 21, Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia Islands officiated at the Service of the Bridegroom in the Church of Agia Paraskevi at Porta Remunda.
In his sermon the Metropolitan emphasized that today even though we live under the Grace of the Holy Trinity and have received the Holy Baptism, we still do our utmost to meet our material needs and our social advancement. On the other hand, we have to understand that our life does not make sense without the spiritual goods.
Moreover, the Metropolitan of Corfu stressed that today’s pericope teaches us that Jesus expects the return of man, even on the twelfth day. The twelfth day are the days of the Holy Week, when Jesus our Saviour is heading deliberately towards His Passion.
Even now, Christ calls upon us to fight, to crucify our sins, our wickedness, our will, and to numb our passions so that Jesus can raise us from the dead.
