On Saturday morning, Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxoi and the Diapontian Islands performed a liturgy at the Holy Monastery of Vlahernon, in Skripero village.
In his preaching, Metropolitan of Corfu, in the memory of the Forty Holy Martyrs, pointed out that the Martyrs of our Church are living symbols of our spiritual resistance and bravery against the temptation and sin.
Moreover, the Metropolitan stressed that the Forty Martyrs must serve as an example for all of us, so as to resist the modern enemies of our Church and our Country.
“Unfortunately, our faith is being prosecuted. Those in power try not only to distort our faith but also to uproot it from the hearts of the Greeks”, he characteristically claimed.
He added in his speech that we have the holy duty to work spiritually, because “it is inside the Church that man is reborn, acquires Christhood and therefore achieves deification”.
