The Head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius, has said that Ukrainians should unite to resist Russia’s intentions to enslave them.
He said this during a solemn divine liturgy and a prayer service at the Temple of Holy Martyrs Borys and Hlib in Ternopil on Sunday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Now we are experiencing difficult times in the formation of our Ukrainian state. The war is ongoing in the east of the country. The aggressor is trying to enslave us physically and divide us within the state. And we must understand that if we are divided, then the northern neighbour will have the opportunity to seize our country,” the Metropolitan said.
According to him, now is the decisive time for Ukraine when everyone makes a serious choice in the presidential election.
“This is the decisive time for Ukraine and each of us. We are choosing our future. The future for the years to come. This is the future that we outlined on Independence Square during the Revolution of Dignity. Then the Heavenly Hundred gave their lives for the European vector of development of our Ukrainian state, for which thousands of our heroes died in the east of Ukraine. We must remember that and be wise, alert, and honest, and feel the responsibility that lies on each of us,” Metropolitan Epiphanius added.
