The Athens City Council will send a letter to the British Government and the British Museum requesting the return of the Parthenon sculptures.
The Mayor, Kostas Bakoyannis, at today’s ongoing meeting of the Municipal Council, accepted a related proposal by the head of the “Athens and Athens Again” faction, George Voulgarakis. The text of the letter will be adopted at the next meeting.
The Athens Μayor also said that he is proceeding with the master plan for the unification of the site of the Archaeological Museum-Acropolis-Polytechnic school in Patision, answering a related question by the head of the “Athens for Greece” faction, George Karabelias.
