Let us not, therefore, think highly, nor boast ourselves, when we are but humans made of earth and ashes, smoke and shadow.
Tell me why are you bragging about yourself? Because you gave alms and you shared your money? And what does that mean?
Think of the poor, think better, how many people gave their bodies, and, having given them, they suffered countless times.
You gave yourself for you whereas Christ gave Himself for you. You gave all that you owed, whereas Christ owed you nothing.
Think that the future is uncertain and do not think very highly of yourself, but be afraid! Do not reduce your virtue to your vanity.
Do you really want to do something big? Never think that your accomplishments are great.
But are you virgin? But they were also virgins, and yet they did not benefit from their virginity because of their cruelty and inhumanity.
