The funeral of the late Metropolitan Nicholas, presided by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece, is being held today at 11 am, with the participation of numerous hierarchs of the Church of Greece and abroad, priests, monks and thousands of believers.
At 13.00 a procession of the relic of the late Metropolitan will follow on the main streets of the city, accompanied by military contingents, the Philharmonic orchestra of the Municipality of Lamia and then tribute will be payed.
Finally with a procession of cars, the relic will be transferred to the Holy Monastery of Panagia of Damasta, where the burial will take place, the late Metropolitan wished.
The body of the Metropolitan had been lying in repose from Sunday afternoon at the Metropolitan Church in Lamia.
The Board of Directors of the Lamia Traders Association unanimously decided that the shops in Lamia will be closed from Tuesday morning, the day of the funeral.
According to LamiaReport information, the Vice Governor of Fthiotida decided that local offices in the region will remain also closed on Tuesday, as a sign of mourning for the late Metropolitan’s funeral.
