In the presence of Metropolitan Nicholas of Fthiotida, Palm Sunday was celebrated yesterday in the Holy Metropolis of Lamia.
Metropolitan Nicholas officiated at the Archieratic Divine Liturgy, accompanied by priests and deacons, during which he performed the ordination of another unpaid clergyman of the Metropolis as a deacon.
The Metropolitan of Fthiotida, addressing to the deacon, referred to the difficulties of the priest’s life, likening it to the Life of Christ.
“The Priest is an image of Christ and all his life is identified with the life of Christ. You will hear cheers and many congratulations today and at the beginning of your course, like they said Hosanna to Christ. Be careful not to take them into consideration, for all this is the beginning of your Calvary.
We praise God, for there are still young people who are coming to serve God and man. The new deacon will be working in a garage to make a living. Unfortunately, the Government did not appoint a clergyman either in 2018 or this year.”
