For the first time, representatives of young girls from the parish of the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa met and held a seminar-camp.
Following the successful event of the young boys of the parish, that was recently held for the second time, the girls stayed at the premises of the Church of the Holy Archangels. The meeting lasted four days.
Every day’s programme included services, Matins, Vespers and compline, where the girls chanted.
On Thursday, July 25, in commemoration of the Dormition of Righteous Anna, mother of the Theotokos, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Nikiforos, in which the young campers sang.
The Metropolitan emphasized in his sermon the special role of Saint Anne, mother of the Theotokos, in our lives, the direct protection she provides to families and women when we faithfully invoke her.
He referred to the miracles that take place on the Skete of St. Anne on Mount Athos, where a fragment of the mother of the Theotokos’ sacred relic is kept, as well as to the miracles that the saint has performed on faithful families of the Metropolitan of Kinshasa, who asked for her help.
The event was closed by Metropolitan Nikiforos who conveyed the greetings of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa.
