The legal dispute between Archbishop Makarios of Australia and close relatives and members of the environment of his predecessor, the late Archbishop Stylianos, seems to be finally resolved.
Specifically, in a statement, the Archdiocese of Australia announced that Nikolaos Kalliouris (nephew of the late Archbishop Stylianos) is obliged by court order to return to the Archdiocese of Australia the icon of Saint Andrew the Apostle, which he had extracted and appropriated during his departure from Australia, after the passing away of his uncle.
This incident was the subject of a legal dispute between the two sides, with N. Kalliouris refusing to return the removed relic, despite the harassment of the Archdiocese and the executors of the will of the late Archbishop to his nephew.
The Supreme Court of New South Wales, to which the Consolidated Trust of the Holy Archdiocese appealed, ruled the case and ruled in favor of the Holy Archdiocese, declaring that the icon is an asset of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and ordered the delivery within 28 days of the relic of the 18th century, to a representative of the Archdiocese, in Athens, in the same situation as when the defendant removed it from the premises of the Archdiocese in Sydney, Australia.
It is recalled that a few days ago, the Multi-Member Court of First Instance of Kavala issued a conviction against Vasso Moralis, obliging her to remove the defamatory posts she had made regarding Archbishop Makarios, with the Archdiocese welcoming the court decision, referring to the exemption “from petty interests and parasitic phenomena.
