An important initiative for the Conference on the Future of Europe is taken by the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO).
In a letter to the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, and to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the IAO welcomes the initiative of the European Commission and the European Parliament to organise a conference on the Future of Europe and asks for active participation in the administrative structure of the conference.
Considering that “the future of Europe is the future of the world”, as is mentioned in the letter signed by the Secretary-General of the IAO, MP Andreas Michailidis, the IAO calls on “all Parliamentary bodies, which in one way or another are shaping the future and are more or less influenced by the political decisions of the European Union but also by their decisions and their actions, to take part in the administrative structure of the conference”.
Finally, the IAO proposes that the European Parliament “first include representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the debate on the administrative structure of the conference. We declare that we are ready to participate in the whole process.”
