The first day of the proceedings of the Standing Holy Synod was concluded today, August 26, under the presidency of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece.
Ieronymos briefed the Synod on his meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Niki Kerameus, with whom he discussed issues related to the church.
Furthermore, the Standing Holy Synod was briefed by the Archbishop on the meeting he had with the Head of the “Greece 2021” Committee, Yianna Angelopoulou, on the topics of the 200th anniversary celebration by the National Palingenesis.
It was mentioned at the meeting that the Holy Synod has instructed the Special Synodical Committee for Cultural Identity to prepare and take action to celebrate the Anniversary, chaired by Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitrias and Almyros, with whom the Commission “Greece 2021” shall cooperate.
Subsequently, the Synod unanimously approved the letter of resignation of Metropolitan Ambrosios of Kalavryta and Aigialeia.
