The founder of Hilandar Monastery, Venerable Symeon the Myrrh-Streaming, was celebrated with a solemn service.
The Council of Elders of Hilandar Monastery decided that on the day of the feast of the Venerable Symeon, at the end of the Holy Liturgy, a prayer act of thanksgiving will be served on the occasion of the election of Patriarch of Serbia, Porfirije.
In this way, although outside the homeland and in difficult conditions of isolation, the Hilandar monastic brotherhood spiritually and prayerfully participates in the life of the Serbian faithful, thanking God for electing Patriarch Porfirije, a worthy heir of Patriarch Irinej on the Saint Sava’s throne of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
In accordance with the measures of the Greek State and the Holy Community of Mount Athos to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Hilandar, there were no guests on this big feast day.
