The Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology announced that the Divine Liturgy and the memorial services for the Saturday of the Souls would be live-streaming in the Holy Cross Chapel this March 6, March 13, and March 20. The services will be live-streamed by clicking here.
It is mentioned that the faithful are invited to share their prayer list of memorial names with the Chaplain. Should one light a virtual candle in our Holy Cross Chapel and add your prayer list, one can visit https://www.hchc.edu/give/light-a-candle/.
All memorial names must be submitted no later than 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning to be included in the memorial service the following Saturday.
In the announcement, it is reminded that in the Greek Orthodox Church, there is an important and longstanding tradition of praying to God for our departed brothers and sisters. Saturday is the day of the week which is traditionally reserved for those who have fallen asleep because our Lord’s own salvific passing took place on Great and Holy Saturday.
While each Saturday provides an opportunity for the remembrance of those who have fallen asleep, the next three Saturdays are called the “Saturday of Souls,” which are designated specifically for this purpose.
