Fr. Konstantinos Kantanis, priest of the Holy Temple of Saint Demetrios in Agrinio, tried to prove that Covid-19 is not transmitted by the Holy Communion.
He also referred to his own test which came back negative after receiving the Holy Communion from the same spoon that patients with coronavirus had communed as well.
According to a post by agrinionews.gr, in his sermon during the Divine Liturgy of the Epiphany which was broadcasted live and has been posted on Youtube, Fr. K. Kantanis initially talked about his own test.
As he mentioned in the previous days, he had communed patients with coronavirus – observing all the necessary precautions – and then he communed as well from the same spoon. He decided then – although he had no symptoms- to undergo a test which came back negative.
“Only with the power of God and unity we can stay strong,” said the priest of the largest parish, noting that “the Holy Communion does not transmit viruses because it is Christ”.
Fr. Kantanis concluded “that we must observe what the scientists that we respect and love say and above all to have Jesus Christ”.
