Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis met with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America yesterday, Thursday, March 17, 2022, in New York.
Varvitsiotis, as stated in a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the Archbishop for the great pastoral, spiritual and social work carried out by the Holy Archdiocese of America, which this year celebrates the centenary of its founding. “The Church is the core of the rallying of Hellenism in the United States and sends a message for its unity throughout the world,” the deputy minister said. And he continued by praising the contribution of the Archdiocese to the spiritual life, education, and socio-cultural activity of expatriates in the United States, for whom he is a constant point of reference.
The Deputy Minister also pointed out that thanks to the multidimensional work of the Holy Archdiocese of America, the position of the Greek Orthodox Community in the USA has been significantly strengthened, while he was informed by the Archbishop about the most important current issues of the Greek diaspora, as stated in the same announcement.
