On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the Greek Ambassador to Ankara, Michael-Christos Diamesis, accompanied by G. Sultanopoulou, Consul General of Greece in Constantinople and the reputable journalist Emm. Kostidis, paid an official visit to the Theological School of Halki.
The visitors were received by the Abbot, Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos, and the fraternity. They went to the Holy Trinity Church for veneration and then were guided to the ceremony hall, the famous library and the other premises of the seminary.
During the discussion between the Greek diplomats and Bishop Kassianos, the main issue was the reopening of the Theological School of Halki, since the decision to stop its operation, 50 years ago, is a direct violation of religious freedom and incomprehensible injustice to the Greek community and the Ecumenical Patriarchate. At the same time, the planned building renovation of the Theological School of Halki was discussed.
Finally, the distinguished guests attended the luncheon that was held in their honor.
