Sunday, April 10, 2022, marks the 17th year since Archbishop Iakovos of North and South America departed this life.
As memorial services are held in Orthodox Christian churches nationwide, a special moment of prayer for the late Archbishop will take place at the site of his internment–the Chapel of the Holy Cross, located on the campus of his beloved Hellenic College Holy Cross.
Representing Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos will preside over memorial prayers and a graveside Trisagion.
A reception with presentations will immediately follow the service at the Maliotis Cultural Center. Bishop Joachim of Amissos will give a lecture on the great legacy of Archbishop Iakovos of North & South America. Following the lecture, Professor Lewis Patsavos will offer personal reflections on his lifetime association with the Archbishop–one began when he was just a boy attending the Annunciation Cathedral of Boston where the Archbishop was dean.
Archbishop Elpidophoros invites everyone near and far to join together in prayer this Sunday and honor the life of Archbishop Iakovos–a churchman whose untold service to the Archdiocese of America helped pave the way to this one-hundredth year.
