An application to all competent authorities and to the Greek Consulate in Jerusalem for a passport issuance or for a Travel Document was re-signed by former Patriarch Irenaios of Jerusalem.
The former Patriarch calls for his immediate transition to Greece for health reasons, but he seems to be facing an unprecedented bureaucracy.
“Please, I have sent all relevant documents to the Consulate since July 18, in order to issue me a passport immediately, in my Patriarchal capacity, to travel urgently to Greece for health reasons,” former Patriarch Irenaios says in his letter to the Greek Consulate.
Elsewhere in his letter, the former Patriarch emphasizes that “any extension of my stay, without the necessary monitoring conditions in a special area, is seriously threatening my life.”
The former Patriarch invokes “the special circumstances,” and “health reasons,” and adds that his further stay in Israel is due to the wrong and dangerous treatment of his life by the administration of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
According to information from Romfea.gr the former Patriarch is hospitalized at the French Hospital, where his sister Maria and people close to him are constantly at his side.
Also, according to doctors, the state of health of former Patriarch Irenaios is stable, but he has not totally escaped the risk of being re-introduced into the ICU.
