The feast of the Holy Spirit was celebrated on Monday, June 21, at the Holy Trinity Parish in Footscray.
The Archepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, Archimandrite Evmenios Vassilopoulos, presided over the service, who in his sermon referred to the Holy Trinity and tried to convey some practical messages to the congregation. Referring to the three persons of the Holy Trinity, Fr. Evmenios focused on unity, emphasizing that “so we must live united with each other. To coexist, to work together for the good of society or rather for the salvation of society”. Fr. Evmenios pointed out that anyone who lives isolated from others or without a unifying spirit ends up in great inner sorrow.
He finally stressed that Pentecost and the feast of the Holy Spirit call us to hold the hand of the other, to become a cause of union and not schism, through the same love of the Holy Trinity. He ended his speech by conveying to the congregation the wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
